These outdoor courtyard steps in Seattle, WA have heavy foot traffic all day long from general sidewalk use and office building/restaurant entry ways in the courtyard. Over the past decade, the condition of these steps has deteriorated with cracks and concrete loss.
The building’s maintenance engineers contacted the local ENECON Field Engineering Specialist to survey the step’s condition and provide a cost effective solution to repair and protect these steps to prevent slip and fall accidents.
The steps were first pressure washed to remove years of dirt and debris. Next the cracks were "V-ground" to remove loose material.
DuraQuartz was then applied to fill and smooth all the cracks. Several other areas required larger DuraQuartz repairs to fill large holes, a lengthy crack on a riser and replace and secure several broken and loose pieces much like a jigsaw puzzle.
Finally, two coats of DuraFill and a blended colored quartz aggregate were applied in the typical broadcast fashion.
