Pump Salvaged

This Peerless de-ballasting pump from the floating dry-dock USS Sustain sat at the Shore Intermediate Maintenance Facility (SIMA) shop for over a year while awaiting an appropriate and acceptable solution.

The estimated cost to cast an exact replacement of this unusual casing, built in 1944, was in excess of $250,000!

A similar, more recent unit, which would have required extensive re-piping, would have cost over $100,000.

ENECON’s exclusive distributor in Eastern Virginia was able to salvage this pump for $5,000!

The entire project, which included rebuilding the ring seats without machining and protecting all the wet areas from erosion/corrosion, took only a couple of days from start to finish.
