Leaking gaskets on the HEX are not acceptable to either the mechanical contractor hired to service the equipment, nor the facility owner. Leaks can vary from small seeping leaks to water spouts coming from the gasket area. Either one causes a mess in the mechanical room, which no facility owner would tolerate. A contractor that has a leaking machine in their care, may not be paid!
Generally, it will not affect the technical operation of the machine but will only get worse over time, without repair.
The other possible repair method would be - weld repair – applying weld material to fill in the eroded areas, which would then have to be ground smooth. The multiple areas that are usually affected by the erosion make this repair time consuming. Weld repair also leaves raw metal exposed to the eroding water. The ENECON polymer repair is accomplished more quickly than weld repair and the repair material is non corrosive. A longer lasting repair.
