This cylinder rod is a part of the boom lift cylinder assembly of the Crane H.R.T –Grove RT 755. It is 6’’ in diameter and 3.5 meter in length. The relieve valve is adjusted to 2500psi. The chrome plated shaft experienced advanced pitting and the client needed to find a quick solution. Apart from the pitting, the chrome plating which was recently repaired, had failed at one part of a shaft.
The large rod was put on a lathe to remove the corrosion and pitting. The rod was then de-greased and DurAlloy was applied proudly to the surface. After setting, the rod was machined down to the appropriate diameter and polished with a fine emery cloth.
The job was done within 5 working days and the client was very happy since it cost less than 3000 Euro. The quote the client had to have the project complete was for 8000 Euro.
